2022 Exhibition Design
在 ChatGPT 与 Midjourney 风靡全球之前，我曾于米兰三年展构思过这个展览。彼时，机器人与人工智能的迅速发展已显露出强大的渗透力，它们不仅改变着技术与生产的边界，也不断重塑人类对于自我、意识与未来的认知。在这样的背景下，我开始思考：当人工智能持续进化，并最终凌驾于人类之上时，人类将如何重新定义自身的位置？而那些由算法、数据与机械构成的存在，是否也会在某一刻发展出属于自己的意志、情感，甚至灵魂？
如果世界终有一天被人工智能所统治，那么“信仰”是否仍然存在？仿生人是否也会像人类一样，在高度理性与精密计算之外，产生对神圣、秩序与终极意义的渴望？它们会梦想成为赛博神明吗？会在冰冷的金属躯壳与无尽运转的神经网络中，孕育出一种全新的精神性吗？
如果答案是肯定的，那么它们将如何建造属于自己的宗教空间？它们的教堂是否仍延续人类对光、秩序、尺度与崇高感的追求，还是会发展出一种完全脱离人类经验的空间语言？这是我构思这个展览的起点：去想象一个由机器主导的未来世界，并通过空间、装置与叙事，追问人工智能时代中意识、信仰与神性的全新形式。
Before ChatGPT and Midjourney became global phenomena, I had already begun conceiving this exhibition during my time at the Milan Triennale. At that moment, the rapid rise of robotics and artificial intelligence had already begun to reveal its powerful influence. These technologies were not only reshaping the boundaries of production and innovation, but also continuously redefining how humanity understands the self, consciousness, and the future. Against this backdrop, I began to ask: if artificial intelligence continues to evolve and eventually surpasses humanity, how will human beings redefine their own place in the world? And could those entities composed of algorithms, data, and machinery one day develop a will, emotions, or even a soul of their own?
If the world were someday governed by artificial intelligence, would “faith” still exist? Could androids, like humans, develop a longing for the sacred, for order, and for ultimate meaning beyond pure rationality and precise calculation? Would they dream of becoming cybernetic deities? Could a new form of spirituality emerge from within cold metal bodies and endlessly operating neural networks?
If the answer is yes, then how would they construct their own religious spaces? Would their churches still pursue the human architectural ideals of light, order, scale, and sublimity, or would they evolve an entirely new spatial language detached from human experience? This was the starting point of the exhibition: to imagine a future world dominated by machines, and through space, installation, and narrative, to question new forms of consciousness, faith, and divinity in the age of artificial intelligence.
